A community development expert and political stakeholder, Blessing Fubara, has announced his defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress (NDC) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress, saying Rivers State is poised for political change ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Fubara made the announcement in Abuja following a meeting with the national leadership of the NDC, including its leader, Seriake Dickson, alongside other party stakeholders.

He described the NDC as “a moving train” and said his decision to leave the APC was driven by what he termed the need to safeguard the interests of Rivers people amid ongoing political tensions in the state.

According to him, residents of Rivers State would play a decisive role in shaping the state’s political direction in 2027, insisting that “the soul of Rivers State is at stake.”

He expressed optimism that the state would emerge stronger after the elections, adding that Rivers would “reclaim its future.”

Fubara holds a degree in Community Development and Adult Education and is currently the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of D’Consiglories LLC.

He has previously served in various capacities across the public and private sectors, including as Technical Assistant to the Rivers State Government on Employment Generation and Empowerment, Resource Consultant to the Niger Delta Development Commission on Youth Development, and Consultant on Urban Renewal and Infrastructure Development for the Rivers State Government.
