The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has extended its 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government by an additional four weeks.
This extension, decided at an Extraordinary National Executive Council (E-NEC) meeting, aims to provide more time for the government to implement agreed resolutions.
NARD warned of potential industrial action if outstanding welfare and professional demands are not met within the new timeline.
Key demands include the immediate release of the 2026 Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF), a transparent salary payment system, and the implementation of measures to protect healthcare workers from assaults.
The association also highlighted issues concerning salary arrears, professional allowances, and welfare conditions in various health institutions, urging both federal and state governments to address these concerns.
