Rep. Leke Abejide (Yagba Federal Constituency) has pledged N500 million for a youth empowerment programme to support young people across the constituency to establish and expand small-scale businesses.
Abejide made the pledge at his homecoming ceremony at Itodo Open Field in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi.
He said the programme would cover youths across the 74 communities in the constituency, with the aim of promoting self-reliance, job creation and economic development.
The lawmaker also declared support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and the second-term bid of Gov. Ahmed Ododo in the 2027 general elections.
Abejide said his decision was based on his conviction that the two administrations were implementing policies and programmes capable of promoting development and improving the welfare of Nigerians and Kogi residents.
The Secretary to the Kogi Government, Dr. Folashade Ayoade, commended Abejide for his interventions in the constituency, particularly his support for widows and students.
Also, the Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area and Kogi Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Mr Tosin Olokun, assured Abejide of the people’s support for Tinubu and the lawmaker ahead of the 2027 elections.
Olokun said the people had witnessed the impact of the APC-led administration and would continue to support leaders committed to development and good governance.
Similarly, Mr Emmanuel Obaro urged youths in the constituency to unite and participate actively in politics, describing the APC as the “winning team” ahead of the 2027 elections.
The ceremony was attended by political leaders, APC stakeholders, traditional rulers, youths, women and other supporters from across the Yagba Federal Constituency.
