What Primate Ayodele said about the Igbo people is not just wrong — it is unjust, painful, and unworthy of a man standing on the altar of God. The Igbo nation has carried unimaginable burdens in this country: war, discrimination, political exclusion — yet we continue to rise, rebuild, and contribute to every corner of Nigeria.
To hear a religious leader reduce such a resilient people to “Nigeria’s problem” is a deep wound. And to see other respected pastors remain silent only deepens the hurt. Silence is not neutrality — it tells us that the dignity of Ndigbo can be attacked without consequence.
But let this be clear:
We will not be broken by falsehood.
We will not accept narratives that demean our identity.
We will not sit quietly where our humanity is questioned.
Every Igbo Christian deserves to worship in a place where they are valued — not tolerated; respected — not diminished. If any church leadership refuses to reject divisive rhetoric, then it is wise to seek a spiritual home that honors your God-given dignity.
Ndigbo are not Nigeria’s problem.
We are a greater part of Nigeria’s strength, creativity, progress, and perseverance.
Our story speaks louder than any hateful declaration.
And no voice — clerical or political — can rewrite who we are.
