A political support group backing the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 has donated food items and cash worth millions of naira to members of the All Progressives Congress in Katsina State as part of Ramadan support activities.
The donation was made by the Director-General and founder of the Tinubu/Dikko Assured 2027 group, Umar Zayyad, who was represented at the event by the Katsina State Coordinator of the group, Khalil Aminu, alongside members of the organisation’s state steering committee.
During the presentation ceremony held in Katsina, the group handed over 95 bags of rice and a total of N11 million in cash to party executives across different levels of the party structure within Katsina Local Government Area and the state chapter.
According to the organisers, the gesture was aimed at supporting party leaders during the holy month of Ramadan and strengthening unity within the party ahead of future political engagements.
The distribution plan outlined by the group allocated five bags of rice and N500,000 each to the 12 wards that make up Katsina Local Government Area. In addition, the local government executives of the party received 15 bags of rice and N2 million to assist in their activities and welfare during the fasting period.
At the state level, the leadership of the APC in Katsina received the largest share of the donation, comprising 20 bags of rice and N3 million. The group explained that the contributions were intended to support party mobilisation efforts and encourage continued loyalty among grassroots members.
Speaking on behalf of the organisation, the Media Secretary in Danja Local Government Area, Nuradeen Shehu, said the initiative was driven by a desire to support party members while also encouraging them to remain committed to the administration’s political vision.
He noted that the Ramadan season provides an opportunity for leaders and supporters to show compassion, generosity, and solidarity with one another.
Shehu also offered prayers for the country and the leadership of the party, expressing hope that God would accept the prayers and sacrifices of Muslims observing the fast during the holy month.
“We pray that Almighty God answers all our Ramadan prayers and continues to guide our leaders in the right direction,” he said.
Party members who attended the event expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as timely support during the fasting period when many households require additional food supplies.
Observers say the donation also reflects ongoing efforts by pro-Tinubu political groups to consolidate support within the ruling party as discussions about the 2027 general elections gradually begin to emerge within Nigeria’s political landscape.
The Tinubu/Dikko Assured 2027 group has been active in several states, promoting support for the current administration and engaging party stakeholders through outreach programmes, empowerment initiatives, and political mobilisation activities.
Analysts note that such grassroots engagements remain a key feature of Nigerian politics, where political support groups often play an important role in strengthening party structures and maintaining connections with local communities.
