Construction work has commenced on Section One of the 107km road connecting four local government areas in the Ogun West Senatorial District of Ogun State.
The road construction, facilitated by the Senator representing Ogun West in the National Assembly, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, otherwise known as Yayi, will traverse Ilara-Ijoun-Eggua-Oja Odan-Ilase towns in Imeko Afon, Yewa North, Yewa South and Ipokia Local Government Areas of Ogun State.

Odunaro, in the statement, said that the commencement of work on the major road which was abandoned for decades excited Senator Adeola who appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun for their supportive roles in seeing to the commencement of work on the road.
“The synergy and complementary working relationships at the senatorial, state and federal levels is yielding positive results for the APC’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the people of Ogun state.
“During my senatorial campaign tour, I had cause to traverse some portions of this road to access towns like Igan Alade, Eggua and Ijoun and it was a despicable sight to see all vehicles and my fellow human beings completely covered with red dust as to be unrecognizable. It was a pathetic sight that I pledged to ensure its reversal for good. I am grateful that my solicitations to the president and the governor of my state elicited support for my inclusion of the project in the Appropriation Act of 2024.
“The road contract was divided into 4 Sections for ease of implementation and it cuts across towns such as Ilara and Ata in Imeko Afon LGA; Daramola, Tobolo, Aworo, Iyana Agbede, Ijale Ketu, Ibiyan, Ijoun, Tata, Imoto, Igan Alade, Eggua, Iselu, Ile Igbooro and Oja Odan in Yewa North LGA; Odan Itoro, Ibola Fagbohun, Abodein Yewa South LGA and Ifonyintedo, Alari, Koko and Ilase in Ipokia LGA.
“I am optimistic that the project will be completed on or before the end of 2027 as a major boost to the economy of Ogun West Senatorial district and indeed Ogun state. This is in tandem with the national development policy of border areas of Nigeria,” Senator Adeola was quoted to have said in the statement.
