Governor Ademola Adeleke has declared Tuesday, July 28, 2026, a public holiday across Osun State to enable civil servants, public sector workers, and residents to collect their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) ahead of upcoming elections.
​The announcement was conveyed in an official press statement released on Monday, July 27, 2026, in Osogbo by the Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi.
​According to the state government, the one-day work-free declaration is aimed at encouraging civic participation and ensuring that no eligible voter in the state is disenfranchised due to official duties.
This directive applies to all public institutions, government offices, and public schools across the 30 Local Government Areas of Osun State. To provide workers ample time to visit designated Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collection centers in their respective wards and local government headquarters.
Governor Adeleke urged all registered voters yet to pick up their cards to take full advantage of the holiday, emphasizing that possessing a PVC is a vital civic duty necessary for participating in the democratic process.

​INEC offices across the state capital, Osogbo, as well as designated local collection points, are expected to operate during standard hours to accommodate the anticipated surge of residents gathering their voting credentials. Public services and government institutions will resume normal operations on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
