Members of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), comprising governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Thursday night held a closed-door meeting at the Council Chamber of the Kebbi State Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
The meeting, which lasted several hours, was presided over by the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, and hosted by Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris.
Although details of the discussions were not immediately made public, sources close to the forum hinted that the governors deliberated on national issues, internal party matters, and strategies to strengthen the APC ahead of future elections.
The meeting also reportedly reviewed the current economic situation in the country, the implementation of federal government reforms at the state level, and the ongoing coordination between APC-led states and the presidency.
Speaking briefly to journalists after the meeting, Governor Idris described the gathering as “fruitful and forward-looking,” emphasizing that the Progressive Governors remain committed to supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He said, “We are united as a forum and as a party. Our discussions were centered on how to move our states and the country forward. Nigerians can be assured that the APC governors are working together to deliver good governance.”
The Progressive Governors Forum serves as a policy and advisory body for all APC governors, often meeting to harmonize developmental strategies across their states and provide input on national policy direction.
Thursday’s meeting in Birnin Kebbi was the first to be held in the state since Governor Idris assumed office in 2023.
