Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, Chancellor and Proprietor of Anchor University, has officially reappointed University of Lagos scholar and former gubernatorial aide Professor Tunde Ope-Davies to the university’s Governing Council.
The decision, which takes immediate effect, grants the prominent academic another four-year tenure on the institution’s highest policy-making body. The announcement was confirmed in a formal statement released by the university’s management from the Ayobo campus on Monday, August 24, 2026.
Prof. Ope-Davies retains his critical position as the designated representative of the Host Community, reinforcing the institution’s ties with its surrounding environs.
The appointment highlights a decade of contributions by Ope-Davies often called the “Father of Digital Humanities in Nigeria” towards bridging the gap between higher education and local development.
He spearheaded key institutional projects, including the university’s inaugural Distinguished Public Lecture series delivered by Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa.
Alongside community ties, Ope-Davies has facilitated international academic partnerships and expanded digital humanities frameworks at the university.
