The National Examinations Council (NECO) has rewarded outstanding staff, retirees and students for their exceptional contributions and performance in the 2025 academic and operational year.
The Registrar/Chief Executive of NECO, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim-Wushishi, presented the awards on Wednesday at the Council’s 2025 Annual Staff Productivity Award Ceremony held at its headquarters in Minna.
Wushishi said the annual ceremony was organised not only to recognise outstanding achievements, but also to motivate staff, improve service delivery and promote a culture of continuous improvement across the council.
He said the awards were designed to recognise exceptional contributions by staff and other stakeholders while encouraging healthy competition, dedication and professionalism in the discharge of responsibilities.
The registrar said staff productivity was not merely about completing assigned tasks, but about delivering quality outcomes with integrity, timeliness and measurable impact.
He urged the award recipients to serve as role models to their colleagues, while encouraging all staff members to embrace perseverance, teamwork, unity, self-improvement and greater commitment to the council’s mandate.
According to him, categories of awards included certificates of service for 2025 retirees, most hardworking and dedicated staff, best state coordinator, best driver, excellent performance in other areas and special awards for outstanding male and female students in the 2025 examinations.
Ibrahim-Wushishi said the council remained committed to strengthening its processes, enhancing accountability and ensuring that its examinations continued to meet the expected standards of credibility and public confidence.
He also acknowledged the contributions of stakeholders, saying their collaboration had strengthened NECO’s operations and supported the smooth execution of its responsibilities nationwide.
The registrar congratulated the awardees, particularly the retirees whose years of service had contributed to the growth and development of the council.
He also commended the outstanding students, describing them as the ultimate beneficiaries of NECO’s work and noting that their achievements reflected hard work, discipline and perseverance.
Ibrahim-Wushishi urged all members of staff to see the recognition as a call to greater responsibility and improved performance, stressing that every role within the council, whether at the headquarters, zonal offices, state offices or in support services, was important to the success of its mandate.
He expressed appreciation to all stakeholders for their support and called for continued cooperation towards maintaining the credibility and effectiveness of Nigeria’s examination system.
The NECO boss congratulated all the awardees and reaffirming the council’s commitment to excellence, continuous improvement and quality service delivery.
He said: “Let today’s recognition not remain a moment of celebration alone, but a call to action so that each awardee serves as a model and each staff member is motivated to raise their performance.”

Others are excellent performance in other areas, and special awards for best performing male and female students in 2025 examinations, and celebrating top-achieving candidates whose exceptional results reflect hard work, discipline, and perseverance respectively.
