President Bola Tinubu is scheduled for a historic state visit to the United Kingdom this month. This marks the first official state visit by a Nigerian leader to the UK in 37 years, the last being General Ibrahim Babangida in 1989.

The President is expected to Land in the U.K on March 17, 2026.

The formal state visit takes place from Wednesday, March 18 to Thursday, March 19, 2026. Unlike previous visits held at Buckingham Palace, President Tinubu and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu will be hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle.

The visit is designed to strengthen the “special bond” between the two nations,

focusing on several strategic areas with High-level talks with Prime Minister Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street.

Followed by Participation in a private sector-led business summit to highlight investment opportunities in Nigeria’s energy, technology, and infrastructure sectors and discussions on regional security in West Africa and shared climate action goals.

President Tinubu will be the fifth Nigerian leader to be honored with a UK State Visit. Notably, he is the first democratically elected Nigerian president to receive this invitation since Alhaji Shehu Shagari in 1981.
