President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been conferred with the prestigious title of Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Lucia, the highest national honour of the Caribbean nation. The award was bestowed as part of strengthening diplomatic and cultural ties between Nigeria and Saint Lucia following a recent agreement to establish formal relations between the two countries.

The honour, reserved for heads of state and eminent global figures, was presented in recognition of President Tinubu’s leadership and efforts in fostering African–Caribbean unity. The investiture ceremony took place in the capital, Castries, during an official engagement between Tinubu and Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre.

The Saint Lucian government described the gesture as a symbol of solidarity with Nigeria and a new chapter of cooperation in trade, diplomacy, and heritage-based exchanges. This makes President Tinubu one of the few African leaders to receive the distinguished title in the island nation’s history
