President Bola Ahmed Tinubu departed King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, heading for Abuja following the conclusion of his lesser pilgrimage (Umrah) in the holy city of Makkah.
The President’s departure marked the end of a week-long spiritual journey that began when he left the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Thursday, October 29, 2026.
Before boarding the presidential aircraft in Jeddah, President Tinubu held a brief meeting with the Deputy Governor of Makkah at the Royal Guest Palace located within the airport complex, and was officially seen off by senior Saudi officials, including the Governor of Jeddah, Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi.
Throughout his stay in Makkah, the Nigerian leader focused on spiritual reflection and prayers for the nation. A key highlight of the visit occurred on Sunday, November 1, 2026, when President Tinubu was granted the rare privilege of entering the inner chambers of the Holy Ka’abah.
Inside the sacred structure, he observed two raka’at prayers and offered supplications for Nigeria’s peace, security, and economic progress. Speaking on his experience, the President reaffirmed his commitment to national development, noting that his resolve to usher in prosperity for all citizens remains steadfast.
He also expressed profound gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for the warm hospitality and special courtesies extended to the Nigerian delegation.
In an official statement issued on Wednesday from the State House in Abuja, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, confirmed the President’s return flight to the federal capital. He noted that President Tinubu left Saudi Arabia with renewed faith and an unwavering commitment to the administration’s goals.
The President was accompanied on the spiritual trip by key government personnel and state executives, including National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, along with Governors Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto, Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Uba Sani of Kaduna, Babagana Zulum of Borno, and Mai Mala Buni of Yobe.
President Tinubu is expected to land at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja later on Wednesday evening to resume his official executive duties.
