President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to depart Lagos for the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Monday evening, October 5, 2026, following a six-day working visit to the former capital.
​The movement was confirmed in an official statement released on Monday by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
​President Tinubu arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, immediately concluding an annual vacation spent in London and Paris. Over the course of his six-day stay, the Nigerian leader presided over key national and ceremonial activities centered in the nation’s commercial nerve center.
​Highlighting his itinerary, President Tinubu delivered a nationwide broadcast from Lagos on Thursday, October 1, to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary. Later that day, he attended the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts for the national premiere of MKO… a feature documentary detailing the political trajectory and democratic legacy of the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola and the historic June 12 pro-democracy struggle.
​On Sunday, October 4, the President visited the Iga Idunganran Palace on Lagos Island to pay a courtesy call on the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu.
​President Tinubu is scheduled to land at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja later Monday evening, where he will resume official executive duties at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.
