President of Namibia, Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, has officially launched the $2.5 billion Dangote Namibia Tank Farm and Regional Pipeline Project. Speaking on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at Farm 58 in Walvis Bay during the landmark unveiling ceremony, President Nandi-Ndaitwah declared the mega-infrastructure venture a historic milestone that will accelerate Africa’s industrialisation, solidify regional energy security, and deepen intra-African economic integration.

Addressing government officials, industry leaders, and international delegates, President Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasized that the investment directly aligns with Namibia’s national development goals and the broader objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). She noted that the Port of Walvis Bay provides a strategic entry point to unlock logistical efficiency across Southern Africa.

”Africa must industrialise Africa,” President Nandi-Ndaitwah said, adding that the project will significantly moderate shipping costs, alleviate severe energy insecurity, and provide job opportunities while transferring vital technical skills to Namibians.

The project features a state-of-the-art storage hub with a capacity of 600 million litres (approximately 4 million barrels), consisting of 360 million litres of diesel and 240 million litres of petrol. Once completed, it will boast eight times the capacity of Namibia’s existing National Oil Storage Facility.

The infrastructure plan also outlines a 1,700-kilometre regional pipeline network connecting Walvis Bay to inland markets across Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Group President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, announced that construction is scheduled for completion within 18 to 20 months.

”We want to invest heavily so that landlocked countries can access petroleum products at cheaper prices,” Dangote stated during his keynote address. “This facility forms part of our vision to build interconnected centres of production, storage, and distribution across the continent.”

During the unveiling, Dangote also announced an increase in the Group’s Africa-wide investment ambition towards 2030, raising the target from $50 billion to $60 billion to further power cross-border infrastructure initiatives.
