In a high-stakes Oval Office meeting Today, U.S. President Donald Trump and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa engaged in a tense exchange over allegations of a “white genocide” targeting Afrikaner farmers in South Africa. The confrontation was marked by the presentation of controversial video footage and the presence of notable figures, including tech billionaire Elon Musk and South African business magnate Johann Rupert.

MlDuring the meeting, President Trump dimmed the lights and played a video depicting opposition leader Julius Malema chanting “kill the Boer, kill the farmer,” a slogan historically associated with anti-white sentiment. Trump cited this as evidence of a targeted campaign against white South-African farmers.

President Ramaphosa firmly refuted the genocide claims, emphasizing that South Africa’s high crime rates affect all citizens, regardless of race. He condemned the language used in the video but clarified that it does not reflect government policy. “We are completely opposed to that,” Ramaphosa asserted, highlighting the nation’s commitment to democratic principles and inclusivity.

Julius Malema was quick to respond to the proceeds of the Oval office meeting, with a post on X just moments after. In the post, he said: “A group of older men meet in Washington to gossip about me. No significant amount of intelligence evidence has been produced about white genocide. We will not agree to compromise our political principles on land expropriation without compensation for political expediency.”

While President Trump has offered asylum to white Afrikaners, citing persecution, South African officials maintain that such narratives are misleading and not reflective of the country’s realities.
