President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to national development, declaring that his determination to build a prosperous Nigeria has grown stronger after seeking divine wisdom and resilience during his Umrah (lesser Hajj) pilgrimage.
Speaking on Monday, November 2, 2026, following a historic visit inside the Ka’abah at Masjid al-Haram in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, the President reflected on the significance of his prayer and the responsibilities of leadership. He was granted rare access into the inner chamber of the Ka’abah by Saudi authorities, guided by Sheikh Dahlulah Muthawal, an administrator at Masjid al-Haram.
Addressing members of his delegation, President Tinubu revealed that his primary prayer inside the holy sanctuary was for the strength and guidance needed to serve the Nigerian people effectively. ”I asked for wisdom and resilience to continue to serve the people. I know that prayer has been granted,” President Tinubu stated.
“Before the 2023 election, I did the same thing. I asked Allah to bless my Umrah then, and He did. I promised that I would come back to thank Him.” The President emphasized that political power remains a divine trust that must be exercised responsibly.
Quoting the Qur’an, he noted that authority belongs solely to God, who gives and takes as He wills, urging leaders to follow their conscience and prioritise the public good. Reiterating his dedication to “Project Nigeria,” President Tinubu asserted that his administration remains focused on ushering in economic prosperity and expanding opportunities for the youth.
The President underscored the imperative of building a sustainable future for young Nigerians, stating, “If we don’t invest in their future, how do we want to be remembered as leaders 50 years from now?” He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening economic structures, boosting investments, and overcoming current national security and socio-economic challenges through faith and persistent effort.
President Tinubu expressed gratitude to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for the exceptional hospitality extended to him and his delegation. He described the opportunity to pray inside the Ka’abah as a rare privilege and a memorable moment in his presidency.
Presidential aides and delegation members accompanying the President acknowledged the profound spiritual significance of the visit, offering prayers for peace, unity, and sustained economic growth across Nigeria.
