This nomination comes as part of a strategic reshuffle announced on March 3, 2026, which sees Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite moving to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State.

Before this nomination, Oyedele served as the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms. His transition from “Tax Tsar” to the Ministry of Finance is seen as a move to integrate his tax reform strategies directly into the federal government’s fiscal architecture.

This marks her third portfolio under the Tinubu administration. She originally served as the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment before being moved to Finance, and now to Budget and National Planning.

The President has already transmitted the nomination of Taiwo Oyedele to the Senate, addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, for formal screening and confirmation.

By bringing in Oyedele—a high-profile technocrat and former PwC partner—the administration appears to be doubling down on its commitment to revenue generation and tax simplification. He will be working closely with the substantive Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, to manage the country’s complex economic reforms.
