Riot policemen deployed to protect the rights of protesters are said to have opened fire at the protesters at the Nyanya axis of the FCT.
Eyewitnesses said the protesters who defied threats by the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, to make life uncomfortable for protesters in the FCT, including using the courts, which already ordered that protests be confined to the MKO Abiola Stadium, gathered in their hundreds to embark on the protest.
However, as happened in the #EndSARS protest when security agents were captured on video smuggling miscreants into protesting groups, apparently with intent to spark violence, the peaceful protest at Nyanya, which started at about 8 am, soon turned violent after police fired gunshots at the protesters, in an apparent bid to disperse them.
As at the time of this report, it was not clear whether or not any protesters were hit or killed by the police.
