The Police Command in Jigawa has commenced an investigation into the sudden death of a 60-year-old man who died after developing a medical emergency in a hotel room in Dutse, the state capital.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu, said the incident occurred on Tuesday after the deceased, who had checked into the hotel with a 20-year-old woman, suddenly fell ill shortly after requesting a meal. Police officers from the Yalwawa Division responded to a distress call and rushed him to the General Hospital, Dutse, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel.
Shiisu said detectives secured the scene and recovered food items, beverages, a suspected sexual enhancement substance and other personal belongings for forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation. He added that all necessary procedures were followed to preserve evidence, while the deceased’s remains were later released to his family for burial at their request.
According to the police, the woman who accompanied the deceased has cooperated with investigators and provided useful information to help establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. The command assured the public that the investigation would be conducted professionally and urged residents to avoid speculation or spreading unverified information while inquiries continue.
