With a bounty of N10m each on their heads, the Nigerian police yesterday (Moday, September 2) declared a Briton, Drew Povey and a Nigerian, Lucky Ehis Obinya, wanted for their alleged roles in the August 1-10 #EndBadGovernance protests that rocked Nigeria, in the course of which many people reportedly lost their lives while many others were injured and government and private properties worth millions of naira either vandalised or completely destroyed or both.
Povey is wanted for allegedly plotting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s government, using the #EndBadGovernance protests as cover, a charge he has replied to, sneering that “protest is not prison”.
Specifically, the police in its Special Gazette Bulletin made available to journalists at a media briefing held at the Force Headquarters, accused the suspects of “terrorism financing, treasonable felony, cybercrime, subversion and criminal conspiracy.”
“If seen, arrest and hand over to the nearest Police, or to the office of the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Department of Force Intelligence, Force Headquarters, Abuja, or call 08035179870, 09133333785, 09133333786,” the Special Police Bulletin read, in part.
“A reward sum of N10,000,000 awaits any person(s) with information leading to the arrest of each of them.”
