The Police Command in Ogun has confirmed the alleged killing of one Gideon Ebukwe by unidentified armed men at Ok Winners Hotel, Igbosoro, Igode, Sagamu Local Government.
The Command’s Spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident yesterday (Tuesday, Dember 3) in a statement in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, said that at 3.30 p.m., the CDC Chairman, Atobatele Igbosoro, reported an incident involving a suspected assassination, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported.
He said that a group of five unidentified armed men arrived at Ok Winners Hotel in Igbosoro and attacked a guest, Gideon Ebukwe of an unknown address as at the time of that report.
“At the time of the attack, the hotel staff, mostly women, were locked in another room, while the assailants proceeded directly to the guest’s room.
“In an attempt to escape, the guest broke through the ceiling but was chased and shot dead, and his belongings were taken.
“Upon receiving the information, the divisional police officer led detectives to the scene. No arrest has been made, and the body was transported to Jas Medical Mortuary in Ogijo,” she said.
Odutola said that investigation had commenced to unravel the nature of the crime – whether it was cult- related or the result of a business deal gone sour or for whatever other evil reason.
She said the case would be transferred to the Police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for a more discreet investigation.
