The Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, on Saturday commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for resisting immense political pressure to rush to judgment before security and anti-graft agencies concluded investigations into the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Speaking publicly on the matter for the first time on Saturday, September 26, 2026, during the 2026 Gbajabiamila Mega Empowerment Programme held at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, Gbajabiamila expressed gratitude to the President for upholding due process and trusting in his integrity despite coordinated public attacks.

Addressing a crowd of constituents, community leaders, and political stakeholders, including the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Gbajabiamila recounted the ordeal, describing the months of accusations and media reports surrounding the purported council as a trial of his public service record.

”I must thank my principal, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Many people wanted him to rush to judgment and give a verdict before the investigations were concluded,” Gbajabiamila stated. “He refused and insisted on due process. Mr. President knows his Chief of Staff very well. Having worked closely with me for many years, he was therefore confident that I was not in any way involved in those malicious stories.”

The Chief of Staff highlighted that comprehensive investigations conducted by the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) cleared him of any involvement in the creation, approval, or operation of the PFIPC.

His exoneration follows a detailed finding by the House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee, chaired by Rep. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, which investigated the inclusion of the fake agency in official frameworks.

The Gagdi-led panel established that Gbajabiamila neither created nor signed any document establishing the PFIPC, nor did he issue an appointment letter to the self-styled Director-General of the entity, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi.

Instead, official records reviewed by investigators showed that upon being alerted to suspected fraudulent activities involving the PFIPC by the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Gbajabiamila acted swiftly within 24 hours to trigger formal investigations by the Police, DSS, ICPC, and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

Warning individuals attempting to leverage his name or office for fraudulent activities, Gbajabiamila asserted that no amount of blackmail or sponsored attacks would derail his commitment to the administration’s objectives.

”Let me speak plainly and directly to all those behind the attacks: no amount of money, blackmail, or lies, whether sponsored from within or outside, will distract me from my work and the responsibility Mr. President has given me to discharge,” Gbajabiamila warned. “And to anyone using my name to defraud people or misrepresent me, know that the law will always catch up with you.”

Gbajabiamila reaffirmed his loyalty to President Tinubu’s administration and the Renewed Hope Agenda, stating that despite the personal sacrifices required in high political office, his commitment to transparent governance remains unshaken.
