Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Enugu West Senatorial Zone have officially rejected the purported nomination of Hon. Dennis Amadi as the party’s senatorial candidate for the zone, declaring that no valid primary election took place to produce him.
In a tense meeting held by zone representatives, party leaders and stakeholders voiced strong opposition to what they described as a “flawed and non-existent” process. They urged the national working committee to intervene swiftly to prevent a crisis within the regional chapter.
The stakeholders maintained that the process allegedly producing Hon. Amadi completely bypassed party guidelines and democratic norms, rendering his nomination null and void.
The assembly raised serious concerns over the current distribution of party leadership, specifically pointing out that the PDP state chairmanship should be returned to Enugu West.
Attendees argued that the continued retention of the state chairmanship by Enugu North directly violates the party’s long-standing, internal zoning arrangement meant to balance power across the three senatorial districts.
”We cannot stand by and watch the democratic foundations of our party be eroded by irregularities and a disregard for our zoning agreements,” a spokesperson for the stakeholders stated.
“For peace and progress to reign, equity must be restored to Enugu West.” The stakeholders concluded the meeting with a resolution demanding an immediate review of the senatorial nomination process and a restructuring of the party’s state leadership to reflect the agreed-upon zoning formula.
