Pastor Paul Adefarasin – an aristocrat in pain

Except you live under a rock or are amongst those the increase in data has disenfranchised, you would have heard of the present wahala involving Pastor Adefarasin and a Car spotter.

The content creator was on his own doing his usual busybody on the road spotting luxury cars when the great Pastor happened on the scene with his top-of-the-range Range Rover

He drove close, wound down and with a condescending look on his face, flashed something and drove off

The content creator shouted, and the clip went viral, with the narrative being that the Pastor flashed a ‘gun’.

Social media went mad, traditional media lashed on with Arise TV doing a segment on it

Pastor ran to his pulpit a cowardly thing to do because those ones in their zombie state will listen to his dribble and hail him

That was the usual work of the devil, he averred, seeking to bring down God’s chosen people…

I listened to him for a bit of his homily with no real expectations and he didn’t disappoint me as he went into some biblical explanation of a simple matter between him and a content creator.

After viewing the clip several times, I have come to the following conclusions

The pastor was not afraid of an impending crime as some have alleged because he slowed down and wound down.

He was instead, from what I can see, on an arrogant, egotistic move by winding down so that they could make no mistake as to who was driving…

Holding whatever it was that he was holding was, in my estimation, muted aggression aimed at scaring the ‘vagabond’ away.

His demeanour wasn’t that of someone being afraid of an imminent attack, but that of one who was irritated by the ‘miscreant’ who was not only annoying but beneath him.

A smile, a wave would have led him to avoid such unwanted public attention

But Pastor Paul has never been a peoples person. His engagements with people of the public have always been in this mien.

Remenber the scratching of his car by a public transport and how that went.

He comes across as haughty, distant and not interested in the affairs of the ordinary people

His detached demeanor not muted by his sometimes phyric philanthropic gestures which do not really make the mark.

From what we have seen of him in his engagement with the real public – not his congregation or his elitist friends, is that of an aristocratic bully who really does not really have the time or the interest of the people at heart.

But why should he. A scion of a well respected patrimony with a rich pedigree, brought up in the lap of luxury, a lifestyle being maintained by a flock of congregration who willingly struggle to keep him in the laps of luxury in exchange for empty motivational dribble spiced with relevant biblical portions.

How would he then connect with the masses who just want a picture of his latest tax free acquisition.

Why wont he roll down his glass and flash whatever to scare them away before they come and scratch his toy again?

It is no wonder that he is now the butt of jokes all over with his fellow rich buffons in an apparent mockery of him, are rolling down their glasses and gifting impoverished Nigerians with raw cash

This is the Adefarasin effect and we thank God that at least his arrogant performance will put food on some urchins tables.

He could have just smiled and waved or better still come and beat me.
