Fresh political realignments may be unfolding ahead of the 2027 general elections as several political parties have reportedly begun moves to woo former Minister of Transportation and ex-Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, following his defeat in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential contest.
Sources close to the former governor disclosed yesterday that a number of political parties are already reaching out to Amaechi with offers to hand him their presidential tickets as political actors continue to reposition themselves ahead of the next election cycle.
The development came barely hours after the conclusion of the ADC presidential exercise, which produced former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate amid controversies and allegations of manipulation by other aspirants.
Amaechi and another contestant, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, openly rejected the outcome of the exercise, describing the process as compromised and tilted in favour of Atiku.
The former Rivers governor, who appeared visibly displeased after the contest, reportedly described the results announced at the primary as “concocted,” insisting that the figures released did not reflect the true situation during the voting process.
