The incident occurred while a programme was ongoing at the rally venue, where supporters, political leaders, and government officials had gathered. A video of the dramatic moment, which circulated widely on social media, showed the platform caving in unexpectedly while several dignitaries were seated on it.
Among those reportedly on the podium when it gave way were Governor Adeleke, Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly Adewale Egbedun, and the spokesperson for the Imole Campaign Council, Pelumi Olajengbesi.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with guests and supporters screaming in shock as the structure suddenly buckled beneath the weight of those assembled on it.
