The union expressed confidence that Tegbe would bring his wealth of experience, integrity and administrative capacity to bear in the effort to transform Nigeria’s power sector and improve electricity supply across the country.

In a congratulatory statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the Council, Mr. Akeem Abas, and the Secretary, Temidayo Adu, the NUJ praised President Tinubu for what it called a strategic and thoughtful decision aimed at ensuring that capable hands are entrusted with critical national responsibilities.

According to the statement, Tegbe’s appointment did not come as a surprise considering his track record of excellence in both the private and public sectors, where he has consistently demonstrated leadership qualities, innovation and dedication to national development.

The union noted that the power sector remains one of the most important pillars of Nigeria’s economic growth and industrial advancement, stressing that the appointment of a competent administrator like Tegbe was an indication of the Federal Government’s determination to address longstanding challenges confronting the sector.

The Oyo NUJ further stated that Nigerians were expecting pragmatic reforms, improved power generation and effective policies capable of enhancing electricity distribution and boosting investor confidence in the energy industry.

The council said it believed Tegbe possessed the experience and vision required to drive meaningful transformation and reposition the ministry for greater efficiency and productivity.

“Your appointment is a clear testament to your hard work, professionalism, integrity and commitment to excellence over the years. We are optimistic that you will justify the confidence reposed in you by President Bola Tinubu and Nigerians at large,” the statement read.

The journalists’ union added that Tegbe’s emergence had also brought pride to Oyo State, noting that his appointment reflected the growing recognition of the state’s contributions to national development through quality leadership and human capital.

The council urged the new minister to deploy his expertise and leadership skills toward addressing the persistent electricity challenges affecting homes, businesses and industries across the country.

According to the NUJ, stable and reliable power supply remains critical to economic growth, job creation and national productivity, adding that millions of Nigerians were hopeful that the sector would witness significant improvement under Tegbe’s leadership.

The union also called for collaboration among stakeholders in the power sector, including government agencies, private investors, technical experts and consumers, to ensure sustainable reforms capable of delivering long-term solutions.

It stressed that the challenges facing the nation’s power infrastructure require visionary leadership, strategic planning and transparency in the implementation of policies and projects.

The statement further described Tegbe as a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of governance, economic management and organizational leadership, qualities the union said would be invaluable in managing the complex responsibilities of the power ministry.

The NUJ assured the minister of its support and goodwill, expressing hope that his tenure would usher in a new era of progress, innovation and improved service delivery in the nation’s electricity sector.

The council also prayed for wisdom, strength and success for Tegbe as he assumes the responsibility of overseeing one of the country’s most strategic ministries.

Political observers and stakeholders in Oyo State have continued to react positively to the appointment, with many describing it as a major boost for the state and a reflection of confidence in Tegbe’s capabilities.
