Governor Biodun Oyebanji has been officially confirmed as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2026 election in Ekiti State, following a consensus affirmation exercise held on Monday at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion, Ado-Ekiti.

The exercise, which was supervised by officials of the party’s National Secretariat and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), saw 885 delegates from the 16 local government areas of the state unanimously endorse Oyebanji as the party’s flagbearer.

The atmosphere at the venue was filled with jubilation as party leaders, stakeholders, and delegates affirmed their confidence in the governor’s leadership and his performance since assuming office.

Announcing the result, the Chairman of the APC Governorship Primary Committee, [insert name if known], declared that the decision reflected the unity and collective resolve of the party to consolidate the developmental strides achieved under Oyebanji’s administration.

>Today’s consensus affirmation is a demonstration of the trust and satisfaction of the party faithful in Governor Oyebanji’s leadership. The delegates have spoken with one voice, and the APC in Ekiti remains solidly united,” the chairman stated.

In his acceptance speech, Governor Oyebanji expressed gratitude to the delegates, party leaders, and the people of Ekiti State for their unwavering support and confidence in his administration.

>I am humbled by this show of love and solidarity. This endorsement is not just for me but for the vision we share—to build a more prosperous, inclusive, and forward-looking Ekiti State,” Oyebanji said.

He pledged to continue prioritizing infrastructure development, youth empowerment, education, and economic growth, adding that the next phase of his administration would focus on deepening the reforms already initiated to sustain progress across all sectors.

APC State Chairman, Barr. Paul Omotosho, described the event as a victory for party unity and continuity, noting that Oyebanji’s administration had earned the trust of citizens through accountable governance and developmental initiatives.

>Under Governor Oyebanji, Ekiti has witnessed remarkable progress. The party’s decision to present him for a second term is a reward for performance and dedication to service,” Omotosho said.

Political observers believe the consensus approach adopted by the APC would strengthen the party’s internal cohesion ahead of the 2026 polls, as it eliminates rancor and promotes inclusivity among stakeholders.

With the endorsement, Governor Oyebanji is now set to lead the APC into the 2026 Ekiti governorship election, where he will seek a second term to continue his administration’s developmental agenda for the state.
