The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the August 15 Osun State election, Bola Oyebamiji, has pledged to improve the welfare of residents and tackle hunger and poverty if elected governor. He made the promise during a town hall meeting organised by Arise TV for candidates contesting the election.
Oyebamiji said his administration would prioritise the welfare and security of residents while investing heavily in agriculture, education and healthcare. He described governance as being about serving the entire population of the state rather than focusing on particular areas or communities.
The APC candidate also identified human capital development as a major priority of his proposed administration. He said his government would pay attention to the welfare of workers and invest in the development of the state’s human resources.
Oyebamiji, who was born in Ikire, recalled his experience in public service, including his time as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Osun State Investment Company. He also served as Commissioner for Finance under former governors Rauf Aregbesola and Gboyega Oyetola.
As preparations for Saturday’s election intensify, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said security measures had been strengthened across the state. The commission said potential flashpoints had been identified, while more than 25,000 personnel from security agencies had been deployed to safeguard the election.
