A Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, has remanded a 27-year-old Adebayo Omisakin Sunday, one of the recently pardoned inmates, in Ilesa correctional centre.
The defendant, number 8 on the pardon list of Governor Ademola Adeleke on the 26th of last month (December 2024), was alleged to have committed another crime on January 3rd, shortly after his release.
The police prosecutor told the court that the defendant broke into the house of one Shittu Damilare and stole a Plasma TV, valued at N600,000.
The charge against the defendant reads: “That you Adebayo Omisakin Sunday ‘m’, on the 3rd day of January 2025 at about 12:00pm at Al-medinat Area Iludun Osogbo, in the Osogbo magisterial district, did break and enter the house of one Shittu Damilare ‘m’ and steal one Plasma TV valued the sum of Six Hundred Thousand Naira (N600,000:00k) only and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 411 (1) (2) of criminal code cap 34 vol.Il laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.
“That you Adebayo Omisakin Sunday ‘m’ and on the same date, time and place in the Aforementioned Magisterial District did Steal one Plasma TV valued the sum of Six Hundred Thousand Naira (N600,000:00k) only property of one Shittu Damilare ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 383 and punishable under 390 (9) of Criminal Code Cap 34 Voi.II laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.”
The prosecutor told the court that the defendant had been convicted within the court before he was pardoned by the governor last year.
Accordingly, Magistrate Adekanmi Adeyeba ordered that the defendant be remanded in Ilesa correctional centre.
