Troops of Operation HADIN KAI and Nigeria Police Mobile Force foiled an attempted mass abduction by ISWAP terrorists at the Federal Government Girls College, Monguno, at about 1:30 a.m. on 19 July 2026.
The school is currently being used as a temporary hostel for Federal Polytechnic, Monguno students. Security personnel engaged the attackers and, with reinforcement from Sector 3 QRF, forced them to flee.
All 46 students were rescued and taken to Kinnasara Barracks, Monguno, for medical checks. All are stable and none was abducted. Sadly, some students lost their lives to sporadic gunfire during the attack.
Operation HADIN KAI commiserates with the bereaved families and assures the public of continued efforts to protect lives and institutions in the North East. A manhunt for the fleeing terrorists and suspected collaborators is ongoing.
