Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun has commended the Inspector-General of Police (I-G), Mr Olatunji Disu, for the success recorded in combating kidnapping since the initiation of “Operation Kosaye” in the state.
This is contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Abeokuta by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Kayode Akinmade.
Akinmade quoted Abiodun as describing the joint Ogun-Lagos security initiative as proactive, intelligence-driven and effective in strengthening security across both states.
The governor said the operation had recorded significant successes in combating kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes along the Ogun-Lagos corridor.
He said that security operatives had combed forests and criminal hideouts, neutralised armed bandits, arrested suspects and rescued kidnapped victims.
According to him, the achievements have restored public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force and reinforced public trust in security institutions.
Abiodun said that the sustained security offensives by the police and sister security agencies had made Ogun and Lagos states increasingly hostile environments for kidnappers, bandits and other criminal elements.
The governor pledged continued support through provision of logistics, technology and operational resources to enhance policing and security operations across Ogun.
He said that investments in surveillance systems, mobility and other security infrastructure had complemented the efforts of security agencies.
Abiodun also praised the Commissioners of Police in Ogun and Lagos, CP Bode Ojajuni and CP Tijani Fatai, respectively, for their leadership.
He commended officers participating in “Operation Kosaye” for their professionalism, courage and commitment to duty.
The governor stressed that collaboration and intelligence sharing remained critical in addressing emerging security challenges across state boundaries.
He said coordinated inter-state operations offered the most effective strategy for combating criminal networks operating across jurisdictions.
Abiodun urged other states to adopt similar collaborative security frameworks to prevent criminals from exploiting territorial boundaries.
The joint security operation between the Police Commands in Ogun and Lagos State on Saturday rescued five kidnapped victims and neutralised four suspected kidnappers in Ogun.
