Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have neutralized 16 terrorists, recovered a cache of weapons, and repelled coordinated insurgent attacks across various locations in Adamawa State.
The military operational success occurred between Wednesday, September 30, and Thursday, October 1, 2026, within OPHK’s Sector 4 responsibility zone.
Ground troops mounted a targeted ambush on a known terrorist enclave in the Boima general area of Gombi Local Government Area. During the operation, troops engaged the insurgents with superior firepower, neutralizing 16 terrorists on the spot.
A post-engagement exploitation of the battle space led to the recovery of an assortment of weapons and combat equipment, including: 3 AK-47 rifles, 2 pump-action rifles, 1 Dane gun, 6 AK-47 rifle magazines and 1 belt of pump-action cartridges.
In a synchronised effort, the Air Component of OPHK executed a precision air strike in the early hours of Thursday, October 1.
At approximately 4:40 a.m., an Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform detected a concentration of roughly 16 terrorists and 15 motorcycles gathered beneath a thick tree canopy.
Following positive target identification, air interdiction assets launched a strike at about 5:30 a.m., scoring a direct hit. Subsequent Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) confirmed the destruction of the target, while surviving insurgents fled in disarray.
Concurrently, insurgent groups attempted coordinated attacks against military positions at the 226 Battalion in Garkida and the 232 Battalion in Garaha. The troops responded promptly with heavy firepower, repelling the assault and forcing the attackers to abandon their mission and retreat.
Three soldiers were killed in action during the fierce exchange, while wounded personnel were evacuated and are receiving medical treatment.
Confirming the series of engagements on Thursday, October 1, Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer for Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) OPHK, stated that ground and air integration remains pivotal in denying criminal elements freedom of action.
Captain Goni urged the public to maintain vigilance and continue sharing timely, credible information with security agencies to sustain the momentum against insurgency across the region.
