The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has directed all party executives currently holding statutory government appointments to resign from their party positions or forfeit their roles within the party structure.
The directive, announced by the Ogun State APC Publicity Secretary, Femi Nuberu, underscores the party’s resolve to enforce strict compliance with its constitution and uphold internal discipline.
According to Nuberu, the decision was taken to address concerns over dual office holding, which he described as inconsistent with the principles of separation of powers and the provisions of the APC Constitution. He explained that individuals occupying executive positions in government while simultaneously serving as party executives risk creating conflicts of interest and undermining the integrity of party administration.
“The party’s constitution is clear on the need to maintain discipline and proper structure within its ranks. Holding dual executive positions in both government and the party is not in line with these guiding principles,” Nuberu stated.
He emphasized that the directive is not aimed at victimising any member but is a necessary measure to strengthen the party’s internal processes and ensure fairness, accountability, and transparency.
Party sources indicated that affected officials are expected to comply within a stipulated timeframe, failing which they may be deemed to have relinquished their party offices.
The move is seen as part of broader efforts by the Ogun APC to reposition its leadership structure ahead of future political activities in the state, reinforcing its commitment to constitutional order and organisational discipline.
