The Oduduwa Citizen Liberation Vanguard (OCLV) has called on the Ekiti State Government to maintain neutrality and allow the selection process for the vacant Alara of Aramoko-Ekiti throne to strictly follow the established legal framework.
The civil society organization issued the directive during a press conference on Friday, July 24, 2026, cautioning that any attempt by state officials to bypass the gazetted chieftaincy declaration could spark social unrest and tie down the ancient stool in perpetual legal battles.
OCLV stressed that the Ekiti State Chiefs Law and the registered Chieftaincy Declaration governing Aramoko-Ekiti must be the sole authority directing the selection.
The group urged Governor Biodun Oyebanji to ensure government agencies act purely as facilitators rather than imposing preferred candidates or altering guidelines midway.
Skipping statutory procedures risks alienating royal families, disrupting community cohesion, and leaving Aramoko-Ekiti leaderless during protracted litigation.
”The stool of the Alara of Aramoko-Ekiti holds deep cultural heritage for the Yoruba race. The will of the people and the sanctity of established chieftaincy laws must be respected without political influence.” said Comrade Adebayo Olusola, OCLV spokesperson.
The group concluded by urging all ruling houses and traditional kingmakers in Aramoko-Ekiti to stand firm, act transparently, and uphold the heritage of the kingdom throughout the selection exercise.
