One of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s senior aides has offered financial support, a job, and a luxury trip to an Ibom Air passenger recently freed after a controversial arrest over alleged indecent exposure.

The aide, who serves in the governor’s media and public relations team, announced the gesture in Asaba on Wednesday, saying it was aimed at helping the passenger “rebuild his life and dignity” following what he described as “unjust humiliation.”

According to him, the support package includes ₦500,000 in cash, a job placement within a Delta-based enterprise, and an all-expenses-paid vacation within Nigeria’s top resort destinations.

“I believe in standing by people who have been wronged. Beyond clearing his name, we must also help him recover from the emotional and financial toll of the incident,” the aide said.

The passenger, whose arrest sparked public debate and online campaigns, expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing it as “a step toward moving forward.”

The Ibom Air incident gained national attention last week when videos of the arrest circulated on social media, with many Nigerians questioning the airline’s handling of the situation. The airline has since denied leaking the footage and said it was cooperating with authorities.

Civil rights groups have also called for clearer guidelines on passenger conduct and the protection of individual rights in the aviation sector.
