Chairman of the Delta Internal Revenue Service, Chief Solomon Ighrakpata, has urged revenue generating MDAs to leverage the 2024 success in which the Oborevwori Administration hit an impressive N157bn IGR as against the  N110bn target, to take the State’s internally generated revenue drive to greater heights in 2025.
The chairman, who was represented by the Executive Director (Operations) of the Service, Dr Frank Nwugo, made the call during a meeting organised by the State Ministry of finance for all relevant revenue generating MDAs in the state on Thursday – yesterday, February 6 – in Asaba, the State capital.
According to Ighrakpata, going by the report, an average revenue of 13.1 per cent was remitted monthly to the state as against the 7.5 per cent average recorded in 2023.
Presenting the breakdown of the top performing MDAs, the Internal Revenue boss revealed that the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) generated N133 billion 96 per cent, followed by the Ministry of Lands and Surveys/Urban Development with N4 billion which represented 3.38 per cent .
Ighrakpata added that the Ministry of Urban Renewal came third with revenue of N317 million, which represented 0.27 per cent.
He however, tasked MDAs that fell short to improve on their performance in 2025.
Ighrakpata said that it is the goal of the revenue service that non-oil, internally generated revenue should be enough to fund Delta’s recurrent expenditure like payment of salaries and wages.
