The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has resumed payments of arrears to corps members, marking the first disbursement since June 3, 2025, after a two-month break, as confirmed by multiple reports on September 3, 2025.
The payments cover the newly approved N77,000 monthly allowance, retroactive from July 2024 to March 2025, and extend to both serving and recently discharged corps members, fulfilling a promise made by NYSC Director-General Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu during the Batch A 2025 Pre-Mobilisation Workshop in April.
The move follows widespread frustration over delays, with funds now credited in batches, though some beneficiaries note the process is still ongoing, reflecting a cautious step toward addressing economic hardship among Nigerian youths.
The resumption has sparked mixed reactions, with some corps members expressing relief online, while others question the timing and completeness of the payments amid ongoing economic challenges.
Nafiu had assured that the government would settle all arrears once funds were released, leveraging retained bank details of ex-corps members, a commitment now partially realized. However, the lack of a clear schedule for full disbursement and the two-month delay have fueled debates about administrative efficiency.
