The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted Ekiti State University (EKSU) the approval to commence seven new full-time undergraduate programmes, effective from the 2025/2026 academic session.

The green light came after a successful Resource Verification Visit in May 2025, where NUC experts assessed EKSU’s infrastructure and academic capacity.

In an official letter dated July 17, 2025, signed by Abubakar M. Girei, Acting Director of Academic Planning at NUC, the programmes were formally communicated to EKSU’s Vice Chancellor.

The newly approved degree courses include:

B.Eng. Mechatronics Engineering

B.Sc. Agricultural Economics

B.Sc. Agricultural Extension & Rural Development

B.Sc. Animal Science

B.Sc. Crop Science

B.Sc. Horticulture & Landscape Management

B.Sc. Soil Science

EKSU’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Babatola Ayodele, hailed the approval as a significant milestone and a reflection of the university’s strategic drive toward expanding into science, technology, and agricultural disciplines.

He thanked Governor Biodun Oyebanji, the Chancellor Dr. Tunji Olowolafe, and Pro-Chancellor Prof. Akin Oyebode for their support in the initiative. Prospective students can now apply to these programmes for the upcoming session.
