The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Mining Marshals have commended the Nigerian Army for its cooperation in the fight against illegal mining following the arrest of 18 suspected illegal miners in Niger State.

The suspects were apprehended at a mining site in Izom, Gurara Local Government Area of the state, during a joint operation by security personnel.

The NSCDC Mining Marshals said the suspects were subsequently handed over to the corps for further investigation and appropriate action. The operation was carried out as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal mining activities in the state.

The corps praised the Nigerian Army for its support and collaboration, describing inter-agency cooperation as essential to effectively tackling illegal mining and protecting the country’s natural resources.
