Acclaimed Nollywood actor and film producer Azubuike Michael Egwu, professionally known as Zubby Michael, has officially diversified his commercial ventures into the personal care industry following the launch of his signature fragrance line, Ayirah Gold.
The grand unveiling took place in October 2026 at the Vintano Hotel in Lagos, bringing together prominent figures across Nigeria’s film, sports, business, and entertainment sectors.
Among the dignitaries and high-profile guests in attendance were former Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi, reality television star and Big Brother winner Kingsley Oritsetimeyin (Kellyrae), Group Managing Director of Ziloc Properties Sir Obrien Ufondu, and Dr. Harvey Ugochukwu Igboanugo, alongside corporate executives and media representatives.
Addressing guests and journalists during the event, Michael explained that expanding into the cosmetics and fragrance market was a natural step in his entrepreneurial journey, moving beyond movie production to build a broader consumer brand.
”You can’t just have a fan base and be feeding them only movies. Because I’m a businessman, I ventured into this,” Michael said during his address.
The actor revealed that while Ayirah Gold is currently manufactured overseas to ensure exact product standards during its initial market rollout, his long-term objective is to transfer manufacturing capabilities and technical expertise to Nigeria.
He acknowledged the economic hurdles facing importers, citing international shipping costs and logistics tariffs, and called on government regulatory bodies to implement policies that make cross-border trade and local manufacturing transitions smoother for Nigerian enterprises.
”It is not easy, but it is worth it. And by God’s grace, we are not giving up,” Michael added, sharing his vision to establish a global presence for the product line within the next five years.
During the product showcase, brand representatives presented several body spray and fragrance variants under the Ayirah Gold label, highlighting scented profiles that include citrus, floral, lavender, and menthol-inspired notes tailored for diverse consumer preferences.
Offering a goodwill message at the event, Big Brother star Kellyrae lauded Michael’s resilience and enterprise drive; “I want to say congratulations to you for beating the odds. You’ve faced the challenges, you’ve seen, and you’ve conquered. I pray that this is just the beginning for you. Greater things are to come,” Kellyrae said.
The Ayirah Gold fragrance collection is now available through major distribution channels across Nigeria.
