The Ogun State Government has dismissed speculations that it is deliberately frustrating or obstructing constituency projects facilitated by Senator Gbenga Daniel, representing Ogun East in the National Assembly.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Waheed Odusile, the government said it welcomed every initiative aimed at improving the welfare of citizens, regardless of the political party or sponsor behind it.
“There is absolutely no reason for the Ogun State Government to block or stand in the way of any project that will benefit our people,” Odusile said. “What matters to us is that such projects are properly coordinated to align with state development plans and to avoid duplication or abandonment.”
He stressed that Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration had always maintained an open-door policy and encouraged collaboration with federal lawmakers, local government authorities, and private investors in the execution of developmental projects.
The commissioner further urged stakeholders not to politicize community projects, noting that service delivery should remain the priority.
Senator Daniel, a former governor of Ogun State, has recently attracted attention for unveiling several constituency projects across his senatorial district, including health centers, boreholes, and school renovations. Rumors had circulated that some of the projects were facing bureaucratic hurdles from the state government.
Odusile, however, described such claims as “mischievous and misleading,” insisting that both the state government and federal lawmakers share a common goal of enhancing development in Ogun State.
Political observers note that the clarification comes at a time when relations between serving governors and federal lawmakers often generate tension, especially in states with competing political interests.
