Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has made a strong stance against corruption and land speculation, declaring that his role is not to facilitate land sales or allocations in Abuja.
Speaking yesterday (Tuesday, October 29) at the commencement ceremony for the 15.4-kilometer Pai-Gomani road project in Kwali Area Council, Wike emphasized his commitment to supporting President Bola Tinubu’s vision of equitable governance.
“I did not accept this position to come and sell land or to appease land traders,” Wike said. “My purpose here is to support President Tinubu in his mission to bring lasting infrastructure and development to the FCT. That is our daily focus—delivering infrastructure, whether it’s in urban centers or the more rural areas.”
Wike reassured residents that the Tinubu administration is committed to inclusive development and that patience would be rewarded with tangible results.
“President Tinubu has made a promise to all Nigerians,” he said. “He asks only for time and patience, and he will reach every one of you with the dividends of democracy. This government is not here to serve any specific group or area; all the Area Councils will feel the impact of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.”
Highlighting the inclusivity of the project, Wike added: “This road we are building doesn’t care about your political affiliations. Whether you belong to the PDP, APC, or no party at all, this road is for everyone who travels it. Infrastructure is for all, and it will benefit all equally.”
He also underscored the importance of accountability and transparency in public works projects.
“This road is important, no matter how far out it may seem. We will make sure to check in periodically, coming here to see if the contractor is delivering as promised. This administration is serious about ensuring that every Naira spent translates into actual development on the ground,” he declared.
Wike’s remarks reinforce the Tinubu administration’s stance on infrastructure as a tool for national progress and the minister’s personal commitment to steering the FCT away from exploitation by land speculators and toward genuine development.
