Awka, Nigeria – In and groundbreaking move towards gender equality and youth-driven social transformation, the maiden youth celebration of International Women’s Day in Nigeria is set to take place on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 10 AM at IDK Learning Centre, close to Government House, Awka.
Under the theme “Character: Promoting and Protecting Womanhood for Sustainable Community Progress,” this historic event will serve as a dynamic platform for young people to engage in critical discussions on social transformation and gender equality. The initiative seeks to ignite a movement of youth-led action in advancing women’s rights and fostering a society where both men and women thrive equally.
The event will feature strategic panel discussions, including:
He for She Session – A dialogue with men who actively support gender equality and advocate for women’s empowerment.
She Leads Session – A conversation with accomplished women in strategic leadership positions, sharing insights on breaking barriers and inspiring future female leaders.
Neurohealth Sensitization – A special session by Neuro G Foundation, raising awareness on mental health and neurological well-being, crucial aspects of women’s overall empowerment.
“This event is not just a celebration but a call to action. We are bringing together young people, thought leaders, and advocates to chart a new course for gender equality through character-driven leadership and community engagement,” said Ify Aronu-Okafor, the convener of the event, a youth development advocate, anchor of Anambra Youth Hour on ABS radio/TV, Nigeria’s Champion of the Summit of the Future and the country’s sole youth representative at the 2024 Doha Forum, Qatar.
