Nigerians have taken to social media to share their opinions about a recently leaked phone call that presumably features the controversial crossdresser Idris Okuneye, commonly known as Bobrisky.
The drama unfolded on Monday (today, October 7) when social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, released what he claims is a recording from May 16, 2024, insisting that the recording is separate from a previous leak he shared.
In this latest recording, Bobrisky reportedly states that he is not in prison but rather residing in a well-furnished apartment close to the prison, among other allegations.
The leak has ignited a firestorm of reactions across various social media platforms, with many Nigerians expressing shock, disappointment and doubt about the recording’s authenticity.
On X, formerly Twitter, user #Oforma19 commented, “Only small star Maggi person steal them luck am for prison, imagine Bobrisky with a money laundering case and no prison time.” Another user, #WillsMedia247, expressed, “Those that Bobrisky trusted are even his worst enemies. He thought he had friends, but it’s sad to see them turn against him. Why would a trusted friend betray him?”
User #fm57661959 tweeted, “He-she will explain why he-she gave the EFCC money to drop the money laundering charges if all the money in his-her account is legitimate. Aza man-woman.” Meanwhile, #AdeyemiOladip14 questioned, “How does this person have access to all these call notes? Are they planning to set Bobrisky up, or why do they keep recording conversations with him?”
User #WealthyWave04 remarked, “If it weren’t for the oaths many people took in this country, how could anyone witness such levels of corruption and still blame those who expose it just because they dislike the person involved? Tomorrow, they’ll shout for a better Nigeria, but how can that happen with this behavior?”
Commenting on VeryDarkMan’s Instagram post, user #real___barlow wrote, “Bobrisky clearly doesn’t have good friends; who leaked this recording?” User #okoruwamiracle questioned the motives behind bringing the recording to social media, saying, “If you have proof, why not take it to court? Social media will only lead to allegations.”
User #officialbhigshaq added, “Regardless of Bob’s lifestyle, VeryDarkMan should back off. Bob was imprisoned for a minor offense that most Nigerians have likely committed. Why not address what happened during the 2023 elections instead? This seems motivated by VDM’s own prison experience.”
This situation recalls a previous incident from September when VeryDarkMan shared an audio clip alleging that Bobrisky bribed officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with N15 million to dismiss his money laundering charges. VeryDarkMan claimed he received this recording from someone to whom Bobrisky owed money. In response, Bobrisky denied the bribery allegations, asserting that he had indeed served his jail term. He also dismissed the earlier viral recording as fake, urging people to disregard claims that he was never incarcerated.
