A viral video circulating on social media has shown a Nigerian female entrepreneur emotionally recounting how she was denied entry into the United States despite preparing for months to participate in trade fairs in Houston and New York. In the video, she explains that she had travelled on a B1/B2 visa meant for tourism and business meetings but was detained for 24 hours at a U.S. entry point and ultimately deported.
Visibly shaken and tearful, she shared how U.S. immigration officers reviewed her Instagram account and message history with customers, which showed commercial intent beyond what her visa permitted. “I told them I was just going to exhibit, but I didn’t know any better… my Instagram obviously says different,” she admitted. The businesswoman had planned to showcase her products and meet her U.S. customer base in person but was instead turned back with all her goods.
“This one hurts so bad… I really wanted you guys to see the face behind the brand,” she said in the video, speaking directly to her customer base. She acknowledged her misstep, saying, “I fucked up big time… even if it meant them seizing all my goods, I should have told the truth.” Despite the setback, she urged her followers to support her in any way they could and expressed faith that the experience, while painful, was part of a bigger lesson: “Even though it hurts, I trust Him,” she said, referencing her Christian faith.
