The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of applications for the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 29/2026, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for commission as officers.
The announcement was contained in a statement released on Tuesday via the Nigerian Army’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle. According to the statement, the Direct Short Service Commission is open to both civilians and serving military personnel who possess relevant professional qualifications required by the Nigerian Army.
It explained that the DSSC programme is designed to recruit professionals with specialised skills and expertise into the Army to strengthen its operational and administrative capacity.
Successful applicants, the Army said, will be commissioned into various specialised corps, where their professional knowledge will be deployed to support national defence, security operations and other military assignments.
The Nigerian Army urged interested and eligible candidates to apply through the appropriate channels, stressing that the recruitment process would be conducted in line with established guidelines and standards.
The Army also reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and merit in the selection process, while encouraging Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunity to contribute to the nation’s security and development.
