Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to consolidating and deepening its Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with China in 2026, with a focus on areas that directly support the country’s development priorities.
The announcement was made by Mr. Joseph Tegbe, Director-General and Global Liaison of the Nigeria–China Strategic Partnership, who highlighted key sectors for cooperation, including economic diversification, infrastructure development, human capital growth, technology transfer, and long-term sustainability.
Speaking on the future of the bilateral relationship, Tegbe expressed confidence that collaboration between Nigeria and China would continue to strengthen and mature, building on decades of diplomatic, economic, and technological ties.
According to Tegbe, the partnership is expected to enhance Nigeria’s capacity for sustainable development, drive industrialisation, and provide platforms for knowledge and skills transfer, particularly in technology and innovation.
The Nigeria–China Strategic Partnership, established to deepen bilateral ties, has over the years facilitated investments in infrastructure projects, trade initiatives, and skill development programs, and Tegbe stressed that 2026 would see a continuation and expansion of these efforts.
“This partnership remains a cornerstone of our international cooperation strategy,” Tegbe said, emphasizing the mutual benefits of sustained collaboration and the potential to boost Nigeria’s economic resilience and global competitiveness.
The strategic engagement reflects Nigeria’s broader foreign policy goal of leveraging multilateral and bilateral partnerships to accelerate national development and achieve long-term economic transformation.
