Nigeria’s Super Eagles slipped one place in the FIFA World Rankings, dropping from 43rd to 44th in the latest update released on Thursday, July 10, 2025. Despite this slight dip in global standing, the team maintained its fifth position among African national sides, declining just one spot from the continent’s top tier, now behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, and Algeria.
FIFA based the rankings on more than 200 recent international fixtures, including matches from World Cup qualifiers and regional tournaments like the Unity Cup. Nigeria’s fall reflects a period of mixed results and tactical adjustments, though the team still ranks above regional rivals such as Ghana (76th) and South Africa (56th).
The Super Eagles now await their next ranking opportunity following World Cup qualifiers and scheduled friendlies later in the year, with the September 18 update likely to reflect their upcoming performance in the lead-up to the 2026 tournament.
